Maureen Grier was born in New York City and has lived in Raleigh, NC for 25 years. She earned a Master’s degree in Special Education from North Carolina State University and is a certified teacher, K-12 in Learning Disabilities, Reading and English as a Second Language. She is also the handler of a certified (reading) therapy dog and the Vice President of the Raleigh-Wake Reading Council. This organization provides professional development for teachers, and volunteer opportunities for community service, while promoting literacy and excellence in education.
She is expanding her horizons and has created her own educational website, growlearndo.com Her website focuses on helping young children learn to read. One of her goals is to become more tech savvy. She is excited about participating in the 2nd Annual WordCamp in Wilmington and learning from the WordPress experts!
